Today, you are enough.

The amazing part of studying ballet my whole life? I learned what it means to be driven. To push, to set goals, never be satisfied, go harder, work longer, strive further. The downside? I sometimes struggle to be completely satisfied in that moment. It shouldn't take a National tragic event to remind ourselves the beauty of where we are in our life today. So where's the balance? How do I celebrate my life, while still striving to create an even better one?

Meditation, Mantras, + Moments.

I see daily meditation, taking moments to pause, and changing our inner voice language as keys to living in the now. For every "If I just...make more money...get that new project...buy a new house..." Replace it with "I see because of the hardwork I do today, I can book that new project." A way to feel proud for what you accomplish today, while visualizing what you can accomplish because of it tomorrow. Every day, I focus on something to celebrate myself, even if just positive mantras on the drive to a job.

As a ballet dancer and woman, I have also learned to stop my self-critical language. I teach thousands of amazing young men and women studying dance across the country, and I want them to see the respect I have for myself, so that they can in turn use that language. So when someone compliments you, don't be quick to say "Oh no, I look like such a hot mess today." or "No my house is a disaster, I'm so sorry you see it messy". How we speak about ourselves dictates the love and compassion we can then have for others.  

Keeping the Drive.

This does not mean we lose any drive or focus. In fact, I have seen it make me more determined on achieving my goals. Not only do they feel possible now because of a new found daily confidence, I feel calmer and less anxious on the rush to achieve them. I know with hard work and setting small goals, my larger dreams will happen in God's timing, in the way they are meant to be. I don't have to have all the answers, and I especially don't have to have them all today. This letting go is so freeing, and I promise will give you more direction. Happiness comes from daily self love, and feeling proud on what you have created. Some days, it's as simple as promoting yourself, and feeling accomplished for putting yourself out there. I also highly recommend journaling and visualizing all the amazing things you want to do. I like to put my dreams "out into the Universe" saying here's what I want and I know I can do it. I will work hard and be proud every day for what I can do and who I want to be. It sounds simple, because it is! It's all about changing the way we acknowledge ourselves, and put our emotional state first as it's the foundation for our physical self.
