The art of self care is on the rise and for good reason- we are overworked, overtired, over stressed, boozed, stuffed with fast and processed food, and although we are bringing our ✨A-Game✨ everywhere else, where we are failing is ourselves.
Harmony of Body, Mind, + Spirit
My busiest time of the year is Spring when I travel with my Dance Tour, prepare my students for their ballet competitions and exams, travel for choreography, and work as a freelance ballet dancer. While creatively and spiritually my tank of full by the incredible amount of young lives I touch by educating and performing my ballet work, I am maxed out physically. and feel a tremendous amount of guilt leaving family. Flying every weekend on either red eyes or 6am flights (if you want a definition of stress and no rest, take a 1:55 am flight out of LAX!) I feel drained and like one big stress knot. So I was on Cloud Nine when Stephanie Whittier, the creator of T-Spheres, came across my “desk”. T-Spheres are an incredibly innovative product, designed to combine massage and aromatherapy. These massage balls are a perfect way to get in much needed self-care, and I was eager to try them out. They are seamlessly easy to travel with, and fit in my carry on. Plus the oil bottles are small enough to fit in my makeup bag and go through TSA!
Self care is VITAL TO A HEALTHY BODY + MIND, AND WORTH THE TIME! Here are the ways I am using and loving these products as a part of my self care regime:
On the Plane: I love using acupressure of the T-Spheres one on either side of my upper spine while sitting on plane and gently moving side to side. Also, using the smaller size on my jaw line, and either sides of my patella as those are my biggest tension spots while flying!
Warming up body: Before a busy dance of teaching and performing, I use my T-Spheres to warm up my body. Utilizing a microwave, or the hot water provided for tea in our hotel, I warm the massage balls for 1-2 minutes, pat dry and test heat, then use along my spine with my feet flat on the floor rocking up and down. I also use the larger size on each arch and use acupressure to wake up my instep and metatarsal. Finally, while lying on my back, I use both at a time, on each side of my gluteus making my way outward, to make sure my tension is released from the day before.
At Night: After a full day of travel, I often am drained with swollen legs and ankles! That's why I will have my husband stash a larger set in the freezer, so when I come home from the airport, I have an extra cool compress to roll my tired calves and arches. To reach a deeper point on my quads, I will lay face down and use "against the grain" rolling all the way down my quad, very slowly and methodically. This does some pretty deep release, so I recommend a large glass of water afterwards.
Bath: You can also use your T-Spheres for a lovely bubble bath! I use my T-Spheres "Peace and Quiet" bath and body oil and the smaller size balls along my sore legs and between spine, ribs, and shoulders using acupressure from my bathtub. Make sure synthetic oils are not used that can break down your T-Spheres.
My Favorite aromatherapy oils to try
Peace and Quiet: I love to use this Lavender aromatherapy at the end of a long day of teaching on the road. The adrenaline is still pumping but I know I need a restful nights sleep since we start the next day before 7 am, and the calming Lavender helps lull me to sleep. I place one in each palms and roll out below my clavicle, gently on the sides of my neck up the jawline to the temple.
Perk Up: Sun Salutations + Good Mornings! We are very fortunate in Southern California to have beautiful weather year round, and I do my best to not take it for granted. There are extreme benefits for the body and mind, to spend time in the sun as well as walking barefoot in the grass. I take my T-Spheres and find a peaceful spot on the dewy grass where I complete my own Sun Salutation Series, and use "Perk Up" to greet a bright morning! The combination of pink grapefruit, peppermint, and jojoba act as a natural antidepressant, pain reliever, and hydrator!
Inner Strength: In the middle of a long day, I use the larger size balls to roll out the top of my hips and lower back, and kick myself back into full swing! I also use one and use my own weight and acupressure along the outside of my leg, running down my IT band. The Eucalyptus and Lemongrass are enlightening and healing!
Empower Mint: This is a great way to check tension as I answer morning emails, and take my first sips of Coffee or Tea! I like to sit and roll out my metatarsal, as well as above right below my clavicle! The peppermint aromatherapy notes are a perfect refresher to my morning when inundated with demands and information from the outside world.
Essential Oils in T-Spheres
My body is my instrument, and I am very cognizant of the quality of oils I use. That's why I was so elated when learning about the quality of Essential Oils used in T-Spheres. The aromatherapy in each massage ball is pure essential oil. They never use manufactured oils or binders, which shows the quality of their product. They slowly disperse, with long lasting aromatherapy. Each ball has a specific
Although I truly recommend going to a masseuse when you can, You can treat your body soul muscles without blowing all your hard earned money at a spa by using T-Spheres.
